Unicef world Children’s Day GoBlue Petition
In conjunction with the World Children’s Day celebration, UNICEF has launched a GoBlue Campaign. This campaign is an online petition to put children back into the agenda of education, safety and fair chance, health, clean water and voice.
The GoBlue Campaign will run for a year right up to the Convention on Children’s Rights Anniversary on 20 November 2019. At this convention the signed petition will be presented to world leaders. Your signature will be handed to world leaders in 2019 and will help impact progress for all children.
Unicef identified some facts that the childrens rights are denied every single day:
- 262 million children and youth are out of school
- 650 million girls and women were married before their 18th birthday
- 5.4 million children died from mostly preventable causes before their fifth birthday
So, these are important reasons to put children back on the agenda. UNICEF works in 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfil their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. They work with partners around the world to promote policies and expand access to services that protect all children.
The work of Unicef is focussing on following key areas:
- Child protection and inclusion
- Child survival
- Education
- Child emergencies
- Gender equality
- Innovation for children to change lives
- Supply and logistics to reach every child at ris
